Jackie Gitman has had numerous, interesting careers in several different locations – and she has enjoyed every bit of it.
Born and raised in Dayton, OH, Jacqueline (Jackie) graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a major in Politics/Government and Comprehensive Social Studies Education. With a desire to move to an entirely different location, she landed a teaching job in Los Angeles – in junior high math!
Continuing her ‘wanderlust’, Jackie briefly moved to Boston to experience the east coast life and then returned to California to be with her new husband in Paradise, a small town in the hills of the Sierras Nevadas. They owned two successful businesses: a delicatessen and two clothing stores.
After five years in Paradise, Jackie moved back to her hometown of Dayton and started a new career in public-private employment and training programs. This led to the start-up of Jobs for Graduates-Miami Valley, an affiliate of Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), a national nonprofit dedicated to success of at-risk youth. In 1999, she returned to California to serve as the State Director of JAG-California and expanded the state program to over 1500 students in 15 locations.
After the JAG program funding was reduced due to state budgetary shortfalls, Jackie returned to her beloved Paradise, where she opened two successful service businesses, while also launching a real estate career. In 2010, she secured her real estate Broker’s license and began specializing in real estate valuation.
Last year, Jackie decided to ‘semi-retire’ and join her twin sons who are both living in Austin. She is happy to be here and looks forward to continuing her real estate work with Elite Premier Properties.
